"Greenville Avenue Seafood and Jazz" by Sharon on April 12, 2007, 1:23 pm, in category General
We took the advice of their PR people and made reservations for Easter brunch.  Published a nice article in socialwhirl's Extreme Epicurean encouraging others to do so, too.

Entered the restaurant. Was seated. Tables were not full. There are about 20 tables in the restaurant. Ten minutes later, someone brought water.  Our daughter, who works as a server somewhere else, said she'd be fired if a customer had to wait that long.  She suggested we walk out and so did our son.

But, full of the spirit of Easter, we waited, ordered, was served the brunch menu. The French toast was dark rye, smothered in syrup served with an over-salty salmon, sliced very thin and cooked very dry. Sent it back and ordered Eggs Benedict. Our son had an open faced sandwich topped with seafood (crab and something else) in a heavy cream sauce.  Our son took two bites and said the seafood tasted funny.  Eggs Benedict: no Hollandaise.  Muffin topped with overcooked bacon and a tiny poached egg. This was the best meal, after all.

What was good: When the server came, he was friendly and accommodating; mimosas and the atmosphere.  The intimate venue features crystal chandeliers, dark panelled walls, white tablecloths, live jazz, which was wonderful and not too loud, not too soft. If the hamburgers are good, a great place to go with someone and talk, have appetizers, wine or beer and a hamburger.

So, we'll try again, but not for brunch.  Holding out high hopes for that hamburger.
