Folds of Honor North Texas Charity Kicks Off “Operation 118” Fundraiser this Memorial Day Weekend

Non-Profit launches new charity fundraiser to provide educational scholarships to 118 North Texas spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members
The Folds of Honor North Texas chapter is thrilled to announce a new charity campaign called “Operation 118.” The campaign kicks off Memorial Day Weekend, and aims to raise funds to provide educational scholarships to 118 spouses and children of Americas fallen and wounded service members.
In light of COVID-19, nonprofits like Folds of Honor are seeing an increase in demand for critical services along with uncertainty surrounding upcoming fall fundraising events like the Folds of Honor annual gala. The organization’s greatest asset in this difficult time is the help of one another. COVID-19 does not cancel community or generosity. Together, with the support of the community, Folds of Honor North Texas can continue to help equip and educate the loved ones of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice through the Operation 118 campaign.
“I know that North Texas is a giving community and we will get through COVID-19 and continue to successfully live out our mission. Community and generosity are two things that have taken on a new meaning during this pandemic. Folds of Honor has been supporting the loved ones of the fallen and disabled since 2007. Our hope is that during this critical time people will, now more than ever, give and support our work through Operation 118,” shared Sarah Duncan, Regional Developmental Officer of Folds of Honor North Texas.
The 118 spouses and children who receive the scholarships are “legacy recipients” – those who received scholarships last year and are counting on generous donations again to continue their education in the 2020-2021 school year. In 2019, Folds of Honor awarded 4,500 scholarships nationwide and 118 in the North Texas community alone. For those interested in providing a scholarship to the Folds of Honor North Texas’ Operation 118, scholarships are awarded in $5,000 increments, but every dollar makes a difference in these families’ lives. The organization’s goal is to provide just as many scholarships this year as last to continue supporting the recipients in the upcoming school year.
