ActivePure System as Additional Safety Layer for Dine-In, Curbside Pickup, and Takeout Services to Guests

Beloved Dallas restaurant increases safety precautions and installs new air purification system to ensure diners are safe

Dallas’ Al Biernat’s continues to welcome in diners to both the Oak Lawn and North restaurant locations during this time but are adding in additional safety measures to ensure staff and customers are safe. Both restaurants will keep diner capacity limited to 50 percent to adhere to state guidelines issued on June 29, 2020. Curbside and delivery services, which are becoming more popular for diners, will also be available.

These additional safety measures includeinstalling an air purification system in both restaurants called ActivePureThe system is high-end technology and they feel that it is essential during this time of uncertainty to help protect both staff and customers. While traditional purification systems can help improve air quality to a degree, they do not reduce surface contamination at all and do not adequately reduce airborne contaminants. ActivePure technology, which is derived from NASA technology as used on the International Space Station, actively targets contaminants in the air and on surfaces, eliminating them on contact. In addition, Al Biernat’s used ActiveClean and ActiveShield as advanced surface treatments. ActiveClean is an EPA approved disinfectant that neutralizes any lingering microbial contaminant. ActiveShield is a powerful semi-permanent antimicrobial barrier that was sprayed on most of the hard and soft surfaces of the restaurants, including the floors.

“The safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance to us. Installing the air purification systems was an investment we hope provides an extra layer of comfort and safety to anyone coming to our restaurants,” shared Brad Fuller, the Director of Operations at Al Biernat’s. “We are going to fight this thing and do whatever we can to keep everybody as safe as possible and invest in technology and do what we have to do so we can stay open,” added Al Biernat.

As of now, the restaurants will be taking reservations for parties of no more than 10 people and strictly monitoring capacity. Reservations are required and will be made in time slots. Each reservation will be permitted to stay at their table for a maximum of 2 hours in order for the next party to be sat in a timely manner while also following capacity limit and social distancing guidelines. Tables will be placed six feet apart and set with nothing but a clean tablecloth. All sanitation and health protocols recommended by the state will be followed. All staff and customers must wear a face mask, except when seated at the restaurant to eat and drink. Disposable menus will be used. Hand sanitizer will be available upon entry to Al Biernat’s, and the team will be routinely disinfecting all door handles, bars and tabletops, chairs, other heavily utilized areas. All employees will have their temperatures checked before coming to work to ensure they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, and any employees who have or display symptoms will be sent home and not allowed to work.

Guests will have three options for payment. Guests can hand their credit cards over for staff to run, guests can swipe their card, or guests can write down their card number for staff to manually charge. When the check is presented, the staff will provide a disposable sanitation wipe for guests to clean their credit card and hands before leaving the restaurant.

Al Biernat’s Oak Lawn and Al Biernat’s North will be offering curbside pickup and delivery Monday-Saturday from 11am-9pm. Al Biernat’s Oak Lawn will be open Monday-Saturday from 4-10 pm for dine-in. Al Biernat’s North will be open 4-9 pm Monday-Friday and 4-10 pm Saturday for dine-in. Both restaurant locations will be closed on Sundays.
