Q: Tell us about Partners Card.
A: Paula: Partners Card is the signature fundraiser for The Family Place, the largest family violence agency in Texas, and a premier charity shopping & dining event in DFW. Now in its 30th year, Partners Card has raised over $20 million to help break the cycle of family violence in our community.

100% of your Partners Card purchase goes directly to supporting survivors of family violence and the services of The Family Place. Your $75 Partners Card pays for 1 night of safety for a victim of family violence at The Family Place shelters.

Q: How did you first become involved with this nonprofit. What compelled you to chair this event?
Do you have a personal experience related to this nonprofit and its mission that compelled you to chair this event.
A: Paula: I got involved because a friend, 1997 Co-Chair Debbie Snell, asked me. And I’ve sold the cards to my friends for the past 26 years.  Their ongoing support of the Family Place is so appreciated. We remain thankful for the continued support of our generous sponsors and our incredible retail partners.

Fortunately, I have not been touched by domestic violence in our immediate family.  However, I have had friends and family members in abusive situations and am so proud of the work the Family Place does. I’m so pleased that the cost of the card, whether it was $50 or $75, has always provided a night of safety for a woman and her children.  Additionally, the work that the Family Place has done in educating the public about this issue has really helped people understand that this problem knows no boundaries and affects every segment of society.

Q: Tell us about this nonprofit’s mission and some brief history, founder/s, etc.
A: Liz Robinson, Senior Manager of Retail Partnerships and Partners Card:
One in three Texans experiences domestic violence, so our mission is vital to the safety of our community. October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so we encourage everyone to visit familyplace.org to learn the signs of abuse and how to find help.

Q: How can someone become more involved as a volunteer or a member of your organization? We always have ways to volunteer!
A: Liz: In addition to in-person opportunities, you can host donation drives, visit our Amazon Wishlist, or donate items to our Resale Shop. More information can be found at familyplace.org/membership/volunteer

Q: Please share the event ticket cost, location, website and contact information.
A: Liz:
Our Partners Card Preview Luncheon is on Friday, October 28th at Terra at Eataly, NorthPark Center. Tickets are $250 and limited in number! Please visit www.familyplace.org/partners-card/events for more information.
