Dallas Summer Musicals DO SOMETHING MORE!

DSM Celebrates North Texas Giving Day with a Soirée at House of Blues

From the press release:

(Dallas, TX – August  11, 2015) Everyone is invited to join Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc. (DSM) on Thursday, September 17th as they celebrate North Texas Giving Day with a soirée entitled Do Something More! from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the House of Blues at 2200 North Lamar Street in Dallas.

The event will feature live performances from GOODnGONE Texas Rock Band, Keron Jackson, DSM Academy and DJ Danny MC. There will also be donation stations, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, prizes, photo booth fun and much more.
Gifts will empower DSM’s numerous education and outreach initiatives that develop arts appreciation and foster meaningful experiences for underserved members of the community. For example: DSM’s Seats for Kids program provides at-risk and Title I school children the opportunity to experience the magic of the musicals for the first time. DSM’s lifeblood lies within the 10,000 children they serve annually, whose lives are enhanced by providing them with a cultural outlet to turn to within the arts.
The programs impacted by giving are: DSM’s High School Musical Theatre Awards, celebrating its 5th year in 2016, DSM Academy for Performing Arts, Seats for Vets, Seats for Kids, Kids Club, Stage Right, Hear Us Now!
(See attached flyer for info. on each program.)

North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to gain exposure to — and start relationships with — new donors, and for people in North Texas to come together to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits. In just six years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $86 million into the North Texas community. In 2014, more than 98,000 gifts totaling $26.3 million benefitted 80 organizations.

Registration for this event is not required, but encouraged. You may do so through EventBrite here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/do-something-more-tickets-17938371151

August 11:

“At the heart of live theatre is the chemistry of shared experience, the electricity that charges a room in a dance of anticipation and connection. The palpable interplay between audience and performers enlivens each group, and meaningful performances ignite conversations and inspire memories that live on long after the show. By its very nature, theatre is community.”

August 4:
(By DSM/Jessica Clark)

“Tapping of your toes in time to a powerful score.
The swell of your chest as your heart goes out to a protagonist in peril.
The collective laughs, cries, and sighs of the theatre audience as you share emotional lows and highs.

“The ability of the musicals to engage patrons in awe-inspiring experiences and with each other is unequaled. For 75 years, the Music Hall at Fair Park has been the home of such memories for millions of North Texans. Countless studies highlight what any theatre lover already knows from experience to be true – arts exposure and involvement increases a person’s quality of life. And thanks to the big hearts and far sight of our donors, the Music Hall doors and the magic that lies beyond them are open to children who are more greatly impacted by the experience but less likely to have the opportunity without support.”
