The Gift of Life Award recognizes a family or individual involved in the kidney transplantation process and provides hope and encouragement to kidney disease survivors.  The Gift of Life award was presented to Maribel Gutierrez. Her daughter, Jessica Gutierrez was in Stage 2 kidney failure, giving birth prematurely at 32 weeks to her miracle baby. A year later, Jessica was in stage four kidney failure and her mother, Maribel, being the perfect match, gave the ultimate gift of life by donating a kidney to her daughter. The operation was performed by transplant surgeons
Dr. Richard Dickerman and Dr. Alejandro Mejia at Methodist Dallas and streamed live on Facebook with almost 200,000 views, likes and shares. This is an amazing story of how life can be birthed through Chronic Kidney Disease, a mother’s undying love and the innovative progression of nephrology and kidney transplantation.

After a spirited live auction, everyone enjoyed desserts and chatting with friends.
