Salum Restaurant Grand Reopening Celebrated A Night of Hope Dinner benefiting Bryan’s House

Dallas-based nonprofit Bryan’s House was the beneficiary of an intimate evening with friends and supporters as Abraham Salum, owner and executive chef of Salum Restaurant, celebrated his Grand Reopening with A Night of Hope Dinner.
Co-chaired by David Andrews and Carlo Barone and presented by the Lone Star Monarchs with Stephen Hoyl as honorary chair,the sold-out celebration was part of the Bryan’s House 2023 Power of You AwardsLuncheon events and raised net proceeds of $50,000. The event was completely underwritten by generous sponsors, meaning that 100% of every ticket purchased and 100% of the live and silent auction proceeds directly benefitted Bryan’s House in support of its programs serving kids with special needs.
The evening featured cocktail pairings including organic, eco-friendly and sustainable liquors donated by 3 Badge Enology and Mijenta Tequila. Guests enjoyed prosecco, wines, passed hors d’oeuvres and a sumptuous four-course menu created by Abraham especially for this occasion. There was also an open bar, silent auction, live auction masterfully conducted by John Rieger, and special announcements.

As she addressed the crowd, Dr. Carla Russo said, “Regina and I hope that what you saw and heard tonight will inspire you to get more involved with Bryan’s House and our upcoming 2023 Power of You Awards Luncheon on October 23rd. Together, we have the power to watch these beautiful kids shine and to make a positive and lasting difference in their lives.”

Slated for Monday, October 23rd, the 2023 Power of You Awards Luncheon theme byline is “Extraordinary things happen when kids with special needs are given wings to fly,” which is presented in the banner below the fanciful butterfly logo. It will feature an invitation-only VIP reception where the awards recipients will receive their awards, followed by the luncheon reception and registration. A three-course luncheon will be served followed by a brief program, which includes announcements of the awards recipients and updates from Bryan’s House. The luncheon is also presented by the Lone Star Monarchs with Stephen Hoyl serving as honorary chair.
A limited number of Individual tickets begin at $300. Individual Butterfly tickets are $500 and VIP Butterfly Patron tickets are $1,000 and include varying benefits. From Abraham Salum, Owner and Executive Chef: A few months ago we experienced extensive water damage caused by an awning which was ripped off of the building in a storm. The awning was thrown up on the roof, creating a hole that allowed water to pour into the building. The damage was wide-ranging and resulted in our having to close the restaurant. We have since repaired the damage, completely refurnished the interior and are honored to support Bryan’s House with A Night of Hope Dinner celebrating our Grand Reopening.
From David Andrews, Co-Chair: Abraham paid his entire staff during the time Salum was closed. Not only did he pay employees’ salaries, but he compensated his staff for what they normally would have made in tips, too! I have known Abraham for about 15 years and he has ALWAYS given back to the community more than most. That is why Carlo and I wanted to host the dinner at Salum – to support him in return for the way he has supported the community!
