Celebrating its 20th year, KidneyTexas, Inc. honored founding members at a brunch in their honor hosted by TOOTSIES, the fashion show sponsor for The Runway Report Transforming Lives 2019 Luncheon and Fashion Show.
Members of KidneyTexas modeled fashions showcasing fall trends, which were revealed by Nerissa Von Helpenstill and Dustin Holcomb of TOOTSIES. Look for reptile prints, unexpected colors such as camel paired with pink or baby blue hues, military-inspired coats, dark romantic florals, ankle boots and hair accessories are back!
Announcements were made about the upcoming Luncheon and Fashion Show happening on Tuesday, September 24th at the Brook Hollow Golf Club. Honorary chairs are Suzette Derrick and Reneé Winter. Mari Epperson is chair and Sandy Secor is president of KidneyTexas, Inc.
Patricia Cowlishaw will receive the Sue Goodnight Service Award and Community Awards will be presented to Lynn Dealey and Jan Strimple.
The inaugural Everson Walls Legacy Award will be presented to Everson Walls as the honoree at the Fashion Show and Luncheon. This award honors an individual or corporation for their dedication to fighting kidney disease. Walls, a former Dallas Cowboy, donated one of his kidneys to his former teammate, Ron Springs, who lived for several years after the surgery.
Heartfelt thanks also went to Gold Crown Valet for their sponsorship and to Preston Hollow Catering for the wonderful brunch.
At the luncheon and fashion show, the morning begins with a mimosa reception, followed by the runway fashion show featuring fashions from TOOTSIES produced by Jan Strimple, which is always a fabulous event including fun surprises. It is all topped off with a delicious luncheon.
In the preamble to the fashion show, supporters who have donated or received a kidney or who have made a large financial commitment to others living with or impacted by the disease share their personal stories and walk the runway. Other fashions are also sponsored by Pockets and KidBiz.
Beneficiaries are Baylor Health Care System Foundation, Camp Reynal, Children’s Medical Center Foundation, Methodist Health System Foundation, Parkland Health & Hospital Foundation, Texas Health Resources Foundation and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Mission Statement: The purpose of KidneyTexas, Inc. is to provide funding to improve the methods of treatment, the search for a cure and prevention of kidney disease and other kindred or contributory diseases; and to develop more adequate provision for the care of persons suffering from such diseases.
Statistics: Debilitating kidney diseases impact approximately 20 million people in the United States today.
