We’re excited to chat with The Family Place Partners Card Co-Chairs Lexie Aderhold, Tully Phillips, and Sally Pretorius Hodge, who are filling us in on all things Partners Card. Partners Card is a premier shopping and dining fundraiser benefiting The Family Place. In the unprecedented year that has been 2020, Partners Card is important because it supports The Family Place’s mission to end family violence along with the amazing local businesses that participate. The purchase of a $75 Partners Card gives you a 20% discount at stores and 10% discount at restaurants at over 500 of your favorite locations across DFW from October 30 – November 8. Get ready to Save Money & Save Lives!

Q: Lexie, let’s start with you. How did you come to be part of The Family Place and Partners Card?

A: LEXIE: Growing up in Dallas, my family always participated in Partners Card on an annual basis. Then 5 years ago my close friend, Samantha Wortley, was chairing the event and asked me to be a Community Seller. As a Seller, I learned more about The Family Place’s mission and discovered how many victims of domestic violence need our help. At this point, I desired to dedicate more time to this organization and when I was approached to be a Partners Card Chair I knew this was the perfect role to allow me to support these families in need.

Q: What is Partners Card and how did it get started?

A: TULLY: Partners Card is a shopping and dining fundraiser benefiting The Family Place which is a family violence nonprofit serving North Texas. People buy a Partners Card for $75 which is a donation to The Family Place to receive a 20% discount at retailers and 10% discount at restaurants for 10 days from October 30 – November 8. This is the 28th year of Partners Card! The current CEO Paige Flink started the idea with a team of volunteers and it’s amazing how much it has grown. I’m always excited to see the new participants every year. We say it’s the only sale where you truly save- save money & save lives!

Q: What has been the best part of this process?

A: SALLY: Well first, this process has been great. It’s been a little disappointing that many of our events have had to be cancelled because of the pandemic…. But that being said, I definitely think there have been some positives including the opportunity to reach out to old and new friends and share with them the mission of Partners Card and  The  Family Place and encourage them to be a part of it. Posting our support on social media and hearing from people who WANT to help has truly been uplifting.  Another great part has been working with amazing co-chairs and the wonderful staff of Partners Card who dedicate their time to this amazing cause and getting to work with them to “think outside the box” and watching all the great ideas to pivot cancelled events and the direction of Partners Card.

Q: Is there anything new or different about Partners Card this year? If so, what is it?

A: LEXIE: Partners Card has offered Online Shopping for a few years now, but especially because of Covid-19, we are emphasizing that you can shop with Partners Card from the comfort of your home with the 80 Online Shopping brands!

Q: What are you most looking forward to during Partners Card?

A: Sally: Shopping!  Not joking at all. My old weak spot used to be shoes, but since having a baby, dressing her in soft pjs and the cutest outfits has been my new weak spot. And with some of my favorite stores like BabyBliss, Layette and Saint Bernard offering discounts, I can use my shopping math to use the money I save to get more, right?

Tully: My favorite part about Partners Card is that I get motivated to go ahead and buy holiday presents for my kids, their teachers, other family members and my friends. It’s the extra push I need to get organized early! I also love to stock up on practical items for my house or beauty products I use throughout the year.

Q: How can readers get involved with Partners Card?

A: SALLY: Buy a Partners Card and tell your friends about how to “Save Money & Save Lives”! Browse all our amazing retailers and buy your card online at PartnersCard.org or, most participating retailers sell the cards. If you are interested in being more involved like being a Community Seller for Partners Card, please reach out to us- the more cards we sell  the more we can help those who benefit from The Family Place services.
