Lee Roy and Biddie Jordan Announced as Honorary Chairs for AWARE Affair 2022 Soaring to New Heights Fighting Alzheimer’s

It was a lovely evening as guests strolled to the Flora HALL event space surrounded by the extraordinary artwork inside HALL Arts Hotel where Lee Roy and Biddie Jordan were announced as the honorary chairs for AWARE Affair 2022 Soaring to New Heights Fighting Alzheimer’s at the gala’s Kick-Off Party.
          

Karisti Julia, president of AWARE, began remarks by welcoming the crowd and saying that as of this year, AWARE has raised $14,000,000 in support of its mission which has been dedicated to fighting Alzheimer’s since 1989 and introduced Mari Epperson and Sharon Ballew as AWARE Affair chairs. After rounds of applause in support of the nonprofit, Mari announced the honorary chairs emeriti, Sally and Forrest Hoglund, Kim and David McDavid, Jr., Ellen Terry with her daughter, Amy Terry Kriegel and son, Todd Terry. Then it was a most exciting moment as Jack Broyles took the podium and announced Lee Roy and Biddie Jordan as the gala’s honorary chairs.

Lee Roy and Biddie are longtime supporters of AWARE. Everyone remembered Lee Roy as one of the star players with the Dallas Cowboys. He became the franchise’s all-time leader in solo tackles (743) in his 14 seasons with the Cowboys. He was a two-time All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowler. He also helped the Cowboys to three Super Bowls and five NFC Championship games. In 1989 he was the seventh member of the Cowboys Ring of Honor. There were hugs and smiles all around, including from the Jordan family, Melanie and David Jordan and Nikki and Chris Jordan. Sharon announced the gala’s location, Star Skyline Hangar at the Braniff Centre, saying that AWARE Affair was honored to be able to host its annual fundraising gala at this iconic Dallas landmark.         

After the reception, guests enjoyed VIP personal tours of the HALL Arts Hotel art collection, guided by Andrew Mike, HALL Arts Chief Concierge.          

Slated for Friday, April 8, 2022, AWARE Affair 2022 Soaring to New Heights Fighting Alzheimer’s will be an evening of beautiful sights, sounds, wonderful food and fellowship, including a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, seated three course-dinner and entertainment. Attire is cocktail, tie optional.

Schlegel AWARE Scholarship Fund.
