Iconic Fashion Boutique Celebrates a Milestone and Revamped Interiors while Looking Forward to the Future
Iconic Dallas fashion house Tootsies announced the reopening of their location in The Plaza at Preston Center as they celebrate 30 years in Dallas. The retailer unveiled the newly renovated store with a Grand Re-Opening event to welcome shoppers back into the shiny new space in December 2021. Music was provided by Dallas music-scene staples DJ Blake Ward and DJ Sober, with bites provided by Yardbird and custom cocktails by Painted Donkey Tequila. The Tootsies team was thrilled to celebrate a monumental 30 years in Dallas and the store’s grand re-opening, all in one event.
Earlier last year, the unforeseen Winter Storm Uri swept through Texas and added the beloved Tootsies store to its list of victims. During the storm, a pipe burst and filled the two-story fashion house with 400,000 gallons of water. The months following the storm were devoted to remodeling the Preston Center location to both fix the damage caused by the storm and give the store a design facelift.
David Droese, current Principal at Droese Raney Architects, had a hand in the original design of the Dallas store’s space 25 years ago, working alongside Tootsies’ founder Mickey Rosmarin. Naturally, Tootsies commissioned David to lead the new design of the store for this project as well. Tootsies is celebrating 30 years in Dallas, but 25 years specifically in the existing space on Preston Road.
“Mickey’s Bar,” the tribute to Mickey Rosmarin located within the store, was co-designed by David Droese and Matthew Gilley, Tootsies Visual Director, who were both close with Mickey before his passing in 2016. The bar features festive, seasonal cocktails complimentary to shoppers year-round.
Even with the obstacles thrown its way, one thing remains irrefutably unchanged – Tootsies’ dedication to genuinely personalized, concierge-style service, styling, one-on-one interaction, and consultation remains unwavering, fundamentally standing the test of time. They look forward to continuing to provide their signature customer service to their clients now and into the future.
