Presbyterian Village North and AWARE Dallas have announced a special screening of RUBY’S CHOICE as part of the Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) 2022 on October 17 at 4 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Cedars. The film, which stars two-time Golden Globe winner Jane Seymour OBE, depicts a woman’s journey with memory loss and her ultimate choice to join a memory care community, issues that are at the heart of the missions of both Presbyterian Village North and AWARE.

RUBY’S CHOICE is a thoughtful film with funny moments starring Seymour as Ruby, which follows three generations of strong women as secrets from the past are revealed. Ruby’s family must make a big decision while her illness threatens to push them apart. Tickets here.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Seymour, who will be joining via Zoom on the big screen.  Tim Mallad, CEO of Forefront Living, parent company of Presbyterian Village North, will moderate the Q&A with Seymour; Holly Miori, PhD, President of AWARE; and Cindy Marshall, MD, Medical Director of the Baylor Neuroscience Center’s AT&T Memory Center and a member of the AWARE Board. Dr. Marshall’s special interest is treatment of memory, mood, and behavioral problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Tim Mallad, CEO of Forefront Living, parent company of Presbyterian Village North.

“We’re thrilled to partner with an organization as committed to fighting Alzheimer’s disease as AWARE to present this DIFF Special Presentation from my good friend Jane Seymour,“ said Mallad. “She is enchanting as Ruby in this poignant tale that shows how memory loss can deeply affect families.”

Dedicated to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, AWARE provides funding and support programs, projects, and research that actively help individuals affected by Alzheimer’s in Dallas and the greater North Texas area. AWARE is a component fund of The Dallas Foundation, a 501(c)3 publicly supported by charity. It supports organizations that deliver outstanding services to Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers, and to those institutions at the forefront of medical research in treatment, prevention, and cure.

“The Dallas International Film Festival provides a platform for stories that run the gamut of human experience, and this year, that includes the struggle of caring for a family member with memory loss,” added Miori. “We hope our community will join other Dallas movie fans in supporting this film that tells that story with grace and humor. At AWARE, we believe that together, with compassion and dedication, we can make a difference.”
