Save the Date for Monday, October 23, 2023

There was an air of celebration as the buzz was all about the announcements for the nonprofit Bryan’s House 2023 Awards Luncheon as friends and supporters filled the special events room at the Tolleson Family Activity Center to hear the news.

Dr. Carla Russo welcomed the crowd and encouraged everyone to nosh on the irresistible spread of charcuterie and sweets just before announcements. Stephanie Newland, Director, Belong Disability Ministry at Highland Park United Methodist Church, took the floor and spoke about the ministry’s special needs programs and the great impact they have on not only the community, but everyone involved.

They have just released a documentary titled “Into the Spotlight,” which, according to the website, is “a heartfelt story of how a script, a stage, and a theater program composed of adults with disabilities celebrate their creativity, explore life’s complexities, and empower a community, in their own words and their own way,” which was featured in the Dallas International Film Festival recently.  This resounds perfectly with Bryan’s House mission to provide children with special needs and their families with trusted case management, educational, therapeutic, and medically-supported care.

After Regina Bruce presented a special gift of thanks to Stephanie, Abigail Erickson-Torres, (now former CEO) Bryan’s House, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Carla and Regina for chairing the 2023 Awards Luncheon. She said Bryan’s House was founded 35 years ago, giving parents joy and peace of mind knowing their children are taken care of in an on-campus environment. She recognized board chair, Dr. Keith Mankin for his service, as well as Cindy Ryan, Diana Taylor and Bryan’s House founder, Stefanie Held.

A film was shown which highlighted the many services and accomplishments of Bryan’s House over these past 35 years. Then it was time for the big reveal!

Carla and Regina announced the 2023 Awards Luncheon theme Power of You, the Lone Star Monarchs as presenting sponsors and Stephen Hoyl as honorary chair, all to a rousing round of applause.  The luncheon’s theme byline is “Extraordinary things happen when kids with special needs are given wings to fly,” which is presented in the banner below the fanciful butterfly logo.

The committee includes Auction chair Elizabeth Smith, and Printing chair Rick Adams with The UPS Store on Lemmon.
