Spotlight Q & A with Tom McCollum, CEO of Forbes Todd Automotive Group, Partners Card Honorary Chair

Q: Tell us about The Family Place and Partners Card.
A: Tom: Partners Card is the largest community fundraiser for The Family Place, the largest family violence agency in Texas. For over three decades, this program has helped community members give back in a straightforward way. 100% of a $75 Partners Card purchase goes directly to supporting survivors of family violence and pays for one night of safety at one of the three The Family Place emergency shelters. The card gets you 20% off at participating retailers and 10% off at restaurants from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, November 5. Audi Dallas has sponsored Partners Card for over a decade, and this year as Honorary Chair, I’m looking forward to amplifying our reach to let everyone know about this simple way to make a difference.

Q: Why did you become involved with this nonprofit?
A: Tom: As the CEO of Forbes Todd Automotive Group, I’m passionate about making an impact in the community we work with each day. The Family Place is the largest domestic violence service provider in Texas, celebrating 45 years of service this year, and as a Board Member I’ve witnessed their commitment to serving our neighbors in need.

Q: How has the mission of The Family Place impacted you?
A: Tom: Many of our neighbors are facing domestic violence, and with 1 in 3 Texans experiencing this issue, it means that virtually everyone has a connection to someone impacted. A few years ago, The Family Place conducted a presentation at Audi Dallas to enlighten our teams about the dynamics of power and control that can lead to abuse. Following the presentation, several staff members courageously shared their own experiences, and I was able to provide support to help them address those issues. This experience has empowered me to be a more effective advocate for educating our community on this important matter.

Q: How can someone become an advocate, too?
A: Tom: To become an advocate, it’s essential to be proactive. Get involved by volunteering, attending events, and educating yourself about The Family Place and their contributions to the community.
