The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) recently gathered patrons and supporters to Neiman Marcus NorthPark for a fashionable kickoff party in celebration of the upcoming Art Ball 2024 gala taking place on Saturday, April 13th. Entitled “MOMENTUM,” this year’s fundraiser will celebrate 62 years of remarkable achievements at the DMA.

Agustin Arteaga, Eugene McDermott Director of the Dallas Museum of Art welcomed the room and thanked Neiman Marcus for serving as Art Ball’s Presenting Sponsor and for graciously hosting the evening. He then announced Andy Smith and Paul von Wupperfeld as this year’s co-chairs. A fifth-generation Texan, Smith is the director of Giving and Volunteering for Texas Instruments and is the executive director of the TI Foundation. Von Wupperfeld is the public relations manager at Qorvo Semiconductor, where he oversees the company’s social media and product press releases.

“Both are passionate supporters of the arts and have served on many boards in our community,” said Artega. “Their dedication to the arts and their excitement for all the DMA and the work we do in our community have been instrumental in shaping this year’s event, and I can’t wait to see their vision come to life on April 13th.”

Paul von Wupperfeld then stepped up to talk about how they came to choose this year’s theme saying, “Every year, Art Ball brings a different experience to guests that is in line with the current pulse of the Museum. This year, we selected Momentum as the theme in celebration of the Museum’s remarkable past achievements and where the DMA is headed next. Momentum embodies the pulsating force propelling the DMA forward, infusing the Dallas Arts District with a vibrant sense of energy and progression. Especially as the DMA looks to reimagine its future and once again serve as a catalyst for where Dallas is heading next, we could not think of a better theme.”

This spectacular event will take place at the DMA and feature an evening of dinner, drinks, a live auction and an exciting afterparty. Art Ball 2024 will showcase the dynamic and forward-thinking vision of the DMA, all while honoring the legacy and impact of our beloved Museum. Tickets start at $3,500 and all proceeds of the Art Ball will directly support the DMA’s commitment to presenting diverse exhibitions, providing innovative educational and public programs, and caring for a collection of 25,000 objects—all while offering engaging access to incredible works of art.
