Faith and Grief Ministries hosted host an event at Dawn and David Hall’s home to kick off the 9th Annual Faith and Grief Memorial Arch which will open in Klyde Warren Park on Friday, November 22 and run through Sunday, December 15. The Faith & Grief Memorial Arch was created as a place for the community to express grief and love by writing the name of their loved one on a ribbon and tying it to the Arch as a symbol of remembrance.

“We chose September 11 as the date of this kickoff because of the significance of this date,” said, Rev. Dr. Fran Shelton, Co-Founder, Faith & Grief. “We wanted to join together as a community to publicly remember our loved ones who have died on this tragic day.”

Co-Chairs of the Faith and Grief Memorial Arch Dawn and David Hall recently hosted the kickoff event for the Arch at their lovely home.

This year’s Arch is dedicated to those grieving a loved one who died by suicide and to especially honor all those working on suicide prevention and mental health.

“We want to acknowledge the significant impact the loss of a loved one by suicide can have on a family, friends and the entire community,” said Dr. Shelton. “Faith and Grief is here to provide support and compassion to those who have experienced the death of a loved one,” she added.

Faith & Grief Ministries created the Faith and Grief Memorial Arch in 2016 in response to the Dallas shooting that resulted in the death of five first responders. Each year during the holidays they construct the Memorial Arch in Klyde Warren Park where individuals and families can write the name of a loved one on a ribbon and tie the ribbon to the Arch as a symbol of remembrance. Volunteers are available to assist and provide information about Faith and Grief services. The Arch is open daily from Friday, November 22 through Sunday, December 15.
