Dallas CASA Champion of Children Award Dinner honoring Goldman Sachs

The Champion of Children Award Dinner hosted by Dallas CASA took place at The Fairmont. The agency honored Goldman Sachs with the Jan and Judge Barefoot Sanders Champion of Children Award for its dedication to Dallas children.
Since 1998, Archon Group, now Goldman Sachs, has served as a co-host of the Dallas CASA Classic, raising nearly $29million for the agency, which trains and supervises community volunteers to advocate for children in foster care.
Goldman employees serve on the Dallas CASA board, in the organization’s Young Professionals group, as trained advocates and more, including making an annual donation of hundreds of holiday gifts delivered by U-Haul truck.
In particular, Goldman’s vision of an agency meeting 100% of the need propelled Dallas CASA forward. Since 2019, Dallas CASA has been able to provide a volunteer advocate for every Dallas County child in need.
Guest speaker Steve Pemberton shared with the audience how he lost his entire childhood to foster care, but that “lighthouses” in his life, people who offered him guidance and support, were the key to his success. “Family for me was not necessarily what I was born into, but what I found along the way,” he said. “I am a reflection of the work of people like those in this room.”
